Long Lost Cousins?

We're here in "Sunny San Diego" for Jesse Hopp's wedding. We came a couple of days early to make a mini-vacation of it. Got up at 4 AM yesterday to make an early flight. Since SD airport is practically downtown we were here in tme for lunch!

Anyway, the afternoon saw lots of walking around and exploring the "Gaslamp District". I don't think I've ever seen so many restaurants on one street. Every one you pass the hostesses (and the hosts who are hostesses!) are practically pulling you in off the street. All those restaurants, all those different cooking ethnicities from around the world . . . but we were dogged and determined in the face of temptation and Breda's blisters from her new shoes. We were going to 'Lou and Mickey's' because we had read that Lou and Mickey's last name was King! Originally from Minnesota, the family made their fortune here in seafood processing and restaurants a hundred years ago and we planned to check it out!

Three miles later there we were, and our long lost cousins only too glad to see us. Dinner was, as they say here, awesome dude, and we left $$$ lighter but full of oysters and fish. Ah . . . the oysters! Six different kinds from all over the US! Very decadent . . . melt in your mouth!

Of course, we could not leave without a family portrait. I don't know, but there could be something to it. See what you think!

Due to the aforementioned blisters, walking back was not an option, but one of many young men with rickshaws attached to bicycles and really strong legs was only too happy to let us hop in and take us back to the hotel by the 'scenic route'. Now we have only been heree a half a day but we already are oriented somewhat - pretty sure there were easier routes home . . . but it was novel and romantic . . . until an SUV pulls up beside us and there are Mike and Mary LeRoy waving and grinning at us in the street. So busted!

So was my pocket after the $30 fare. But the guy did work hard and managed to get out of the way of the train just in time . . .
